You.
I have always kind of been frustrated with photographers on Flickr who only take self portraits. And then...
I thought about it.
I was and am wrong for feeling that way. First of all, their photography is allowed to be what ever they want it to be. Second of all, if that is how they express who they are, then so be it.
I watched and critiqued "I Am Number Four", correct? (Stick with me this is related.) I'm not sure if many readers of my blog are aware that I'm pursuing a career in photography, but I am. So now you know. Anyway, in "I Am Number Four" Sarah is a photographer. While in her room, Four finds her journal of photographs that are all self portraits. "Why are you allowed to go around and see people through your camera and have us not be allowed to see you?" He said something along these lines. I think that is really what made me think about things. Yay lists.
"Things"
1.) I hide behind my camera.
2.) I can't relate to people who take self portraits in an "artistic" or "serious" way because I've never tried and I would be afraid to. Plus its not my way of expressing myself.
3.) Whether I feel like I'm hiding behind my camera or not, I know that photojournalism is what I want to do with my life. When I'm shooting, I enter a completely different mind set and block out things around me. I know this sounds cliche, but I really do see better through the lens. (No glasses jokes from those who know me. Kay?)
So anyway.
Time to read. Again.
-To the tune of "The Tip of The Ice Berg"-
Welcome back, 4 A.M
I'll sink into warm fuzzy covers
and feel much better when
My dreams steal me, into the dark.
Reality melts and finally my adventures disembark
And I'll meet you home.
-erm-
So sorry for that epic fail. It's probably not the best idea to post something this late. Early. ? Whatever.
Goodnight Lovely People (see? I got it right this time.)
-Laura
