Tumblr - No Worries

Hello all! I have to admit that I have started to miss Tumblr. It is really connected now and I miss being able to follow people and waste long amounts of time on there. (Not Kidding.)

This may be due to the amount of stress I'm under, but I am joining it once again, although that doesn't really mean anything, I will still post on here anything that's on there (except for my starting blog post - that would be silly).

So! Incase you are awesome and have a blogger and Tumblr account as well, here is my url:

What You May Call It - Outlets

My love for music has no end. There are moments where I just want to drown in it and be able to create something like that, to make someone feel that way. I love many styles of music but my favorites are classical, jazz, swing and some random crap mixed in there (including but not limited to, techno and alternative). The fact is I know some things about music, but not a whole lot. I don't feel I have enough talent, or technical knowledge in this one area to dedicate my life to it.

I also am in love with painting. I like appreciating other peoples work, and loosing myself in what I'm doing. It takes so much concentration that I could easily spend hours upon hours working on something without realizing that five minutes have gone by. What I like the most is being able to look at the finished product and being satisfied with it. Knowing that there could be improvement, but also realizing that you MADE that subject or place come alive. I have only just started to explore this area of art so I'm not sure if I could do it for a living and be comfortable with that choice.

I fancy writing. I like creating people and places, making them as simple or complex as I choose to make multiple things come together. I love being able to show people an image with words, to be able to take them to a different place. I love the thought of originality (not like a hipster thing) but just introducing people to ideas they haven't thought of before. I've been complimented on my writing many times by various teachers and people (this blog is not an example of what I consider my "writing") but it takes a lot for me to get started on a writing project, although once I have, it's easy to continue to work on. I just feel like I would have to push myself a lot to be able to be a writer, and once I am one, its not like people have to buy my books.

Photography. This is what everyone expects me to do (everyone close to me anyway) because it is probably what I'm best at. I love the compliments I get on my photos (this is the only area in which I get a little confident in). The idea of being a photojournalist and traveling is beautiful. But that's just what it is: an idea. I think it would be fun to go and see other cultures and be able to capture moments of time but in all honesty, I love the thought of a family and having my children grow up in one house. I want to grow some of my own vegetables and support local businesses and be a mom.

But a mom isn't all I want to be.

I want to be a musical, knowledgeable, painting, photographing, book writing ,book reading super woman of awesome.

So basically I don 't know what I want to do with my life. I would like to take everything and mash it together but I'm not sure how that would happen. So for now I'll just be that woman, and decide on which path to take later.

Howl's Moving Castle

I think I should mention my love for Miyazaki movies. They are beautiful and carried me through part of my childhood. I haven't watched them all but I plan to. As of now, my favorite in story line and music is Howl's Moving Castle. I love Howl. I feel like he's the reason I'm always mildly attracted to guys with longer hair. (As silly as that seems.) I have never watched all of Spirited Away although it is many of my friends favorite. I have seen bits and pieces of it and they are always the same parts too. I'm fond of Whisper of the Heart and KiKi's Delivery Service. And all the rest of the ones that I've watched and don't care to think of the names for.

Speaking of KiKi, we have named our cat. (KiKi, if you didn't understand.) :3 ADORABLE.

Speaking of adorable :D....oh...wait....just kidding. I've been trying to work on my Book Portfolio. You can imagine how well it's going. The fact that I don't know how to correctly make a Title page is kind of disappointing and what's even more disappointing is the fact that Purdue OWL doesn't give you an example for MLA because evidently cool kids don't put title pages on MLA papers. (Run on sentence much?)

I'm kind of tired (okay really tired) and it is only midnight. I'm supposed to be able to get a bunch done tonight (according to my own standards. I have until Friday to do all of this and despite the short amount of time I am confident I will do decently on this project.)

LALALALALA. WHY HAS THE MUSIC STOPPED?!

Totoro to-toro. Totor to-toro. ^ ^

Here's a curse for you: MAY ALL YOUR BACON BURN.

I really am going slightly insane. This is not okay.

Half of my bed is for sleeping, the other half is for all the crap I'm using to do this project.

I just realized! I need to learn how to play the piccolo and then how to play Stars and Stripes on the piccolo before Saturday! Doing all of this while I work! Oh and the band rehearsals don't forget those. Aaand the eye doctors appointment. AND THE DINNER WITH DAD. Good gracious. I think I may just die.

P.S- I should mention that I have also read Howl's Moving Castle and although my love for the movie has no extent, I love the book even more.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Sometimes when I think about "classic books" I forget that there is a reason they became classics.

I was unfair in my judgement of this book before I read it. I thought it was going to be boring, that I wouldn't want to read it and I had the whole "Holy Cow How Am I Going To Do A Whole Project On It?" attitude. I thought it would be boring and without a good plot. I thought that the language would be so hard to relate to that I would just wish that I was the kind of person to SparkNote things.

I was entirely wrong.

Before I continue on, let me just say that this is my raw opinion of the book prior to doing any research on it's author or on any other aspect of the book.

Lists. Lists are good.

Things about the book:
1.) The language: When I first started reading this book, I was very thankful for the dictionary feature on my Kindle. Words like "fortnight" and "felicity" were new to me - even if they shouldn't have been. Although it took some time, I got used to it and was able to easily read the book. (Hoorah for the expansion of knowledge!)

2.)The Plot: Oh the plot was wonderfully twisted and yet somewhat predictable. I guess predictable was the wrong word here...it kept you hoping for things to work out in the way that you wanted them to.

3.) The Characters: Jane Austen did a beautiful job at developing the characters she created with in this story. I became connected with them and really lost all sense of reality after reading for a while. The way she wrote lead you to believe these were real people and convinced you to hope for them.

4.) The Dialogue: I found Austen often used the character's dialogue to set the scene and mood instead of just describing it. (This is not a bad thing. She still described surroundings at time but...hopefully you get the idea.) This also ties in with Elizabeth's prejudice against Darcy in the beginning because you are only presented with one side of the situation so you are lead to believe certain things about different characters.

There are more things buuut...I do have to do a whole project on it so I don't want to ruin the book for myself quite yet. Basically I think it was a wonderful book and that it should be read by everyone at least once in  their life time. Its like three in the morning. But.

I LOVED THIS BOOK.

Cheers,

The Plan

So this summer I have a pretty busy and strict schedule due to band and my AP English course. I never really doubted whether or not I could handle all of this until today while I was packing for the Clinic I'm going to for Field Commanding. (Drum Major - whatever.)

I have two weeks instead of four to do my Portfolio project because of this Clinic and State Fair. I'm not even done with my book yet (I have to send the project on the 20th).

Despite the stress and the time restraints I am somewhat enjoying this project. I have found Pride and Prejudice to be a very intriguing and captivating book. It's far more enjoyable than I had thought it would be.

I'm leaving in 8 1/2 hours so I should probably get some sleep but I wanted to do a quick update on here.

List of Happenings and Thoughts:
-Slytherin won the House Cup
-I'm super stressed about being a Field Commander
-I'm super stressed about AP English
-Pride and Prejudice is a wonderful book( in my opinion)
-Senior Year = A Need To Pick A College (And a Major)
-Work has been hell (Never below 90 degress in there! Yay Ovens. -_- )
-If you step outside you'll either melt or get blown away in horrible weather.
-My leg is asleep. Lucky leg.

Cheers!
